Thankyou for downloading the Wasp personal VTOL concept craft from Lionheart Creations Ltd.

[ABOUT THE CONCEPT]
This is the wildish concept VTOL Wasp personal vehicle. In the future, the concept of flying to work is no longer a dream but a necessity with the ground traffic being absorbed at such an extreme rate, manufacturers take to research into private VTOL commuters for daily use and remote landing, not requiring airports, but safe landing zones for such vehicles, such as sectored parking lots, garage buildings, high rises, certain zoned residence neighborhoods, etc.

Another factor in the future is the elimination of the reliance upon oil reserves and fossil fuels, as the great manufacturers then will shift to fuel cells, electric drives with instantaneously chargeable battery modules, and hydrogen propusion systems including turbines, which leave raw safe elements in the atmosphere that are non polluting. The Wasp is created around the use of a household modern fuel cell that creates hydrogen, which is now (in the future) located at all fueling stations. The Wasps turbine, though now radically efficient in the future, is still a high consumer of hydrogen and thus the ability to produce it at home from the exhaust materials of the house hold fuel cell (by General Motors) is a good money saver.

The concepts behind the Wasp are what make it feasible in the future, such as massively efficient turbine technologies, high strength materials including composites, ultra small electronics and the most radical state of the art navigation systems that are the size of modern day hand held GPS systems, that feature such things as radio altimeters, auto pilot with auto hover presets, and emergency situational flight computers. Such instrumentation would include eye-piece visual awareness instrumentation monitoring, ultra simple one handed operation of the craft, and flight training by the manufacturers which is extensive and leave a owner feeling as though they could fly an F15, which in the future will be an antique in a museum while NASA is launching experimental system ships that have radical new technology drives that allow a ship to partially dimension shift causing its mass to be lighter then an automobile and thus easily launched into unimaginable rates of speed.

Welcome to my world.

 [INSTALLATION]
Scan your zipped folder with an anti virus program.
Unzip your download into a temporary holding folder.
Navigate into your Wasp folder;
Copy/Paste or Drag/Drop your guages (without their guages folder) into the main Guages folder in FS2004 or FS9.
Go back to your Wasp folder,
Copy/Paste or Drag/Drop your Wasp Aircraft folder into the main Aircraft folder in FS2004 or FS9.
You are ready to fly.
If you are missing instruments, then you might have put the entire guages folder into the Guages folder in FS,
or you didnt place the guages in there to begin with by mistake.

[VTOL TAKEOFF CHECKLIST]
Set Thrusters to full VTOL;
Adjust trim to first line up from zero point;
Check that the Hydrogen Turbine is running at optimum efficiency;
Hold brakes on;
Birp throttle to 30%, craft will leap into the air forwards;
Raise the Landing Chassis
Begin slowly increasing the throttle;
Begin incrementally decreasing the VTOL thruster angles; (Flaps).
Adjust speed to desired setting upon normal flight;
Make sure thrusters are to full forward setting and Hyperbrakes are in off positions.

[LANDING; TRANSITION BACK INTO VTOL]
The Wasp must be slowed tremendously before engaging VTOL thrust angle. Engage the Wasp Airbrake/Spoiler first. Upon deceleration to under 60 knots, engage the first notch of VTOL (Flaps in FS). Upon the adjustment to the high lift the Wasp will begin slowing and then more notches of VTOL can be selected. Your Earth descent will now become mostly vertical. If you use full VTOL setting, your descent will take a while. You might wish to save full VTOL mode for when you are close to your landing target.

Landing Checklist;
Hyper brakes to 60- knots;
VTOL one notch;
Disengage Hyperbrakes;
Increase VTOL as desired
At 50 Feet radar alt. range of landing target, engage Landing Chassi (Gear) to down position.
Before touchdown, double check Hyperbrakes disengagement;
Goto last highest position VTOL thrusters selection for smoothest landing;
Throttle as necessary to allow for a smooth landing.

Note: This model of Wasp is not equipped with auto hover and auto land instrumentation.

Note: I highly recommend going out to the desert (in FS that is) and practicing landing in hops. You can get really good at learning to operate the Wasp after a while of practice hops. The Hyperbrakes at slow speed cause moderate alt. loss, thus if you are too high, you can use that to your benefit. Just remember to turn them off before touch down or your going to feel the pain in the morning. (Dont worry though, its still just a sim).

[HOVER]
See VTOL Takeoff Instructions above for details on getting airborn. Basically, after you have set thrusters to full VTOL mode (or full flaps in FS), you select roughly 1/3 throttle for a slow and slightly forward launch into the air. It is possible to slowly lift off, but unfortunately due to my programming abilities, I cant create pure straight up lift with this FS model. (It would have to use a helicopter file for that, and it wouldnt be able to clip along at higher speeds of 350 knots then. Well, it could, but the imaginary rotors would fly off when their tips hit sound).

Back to hovering One can learn to balance the Wasp in the air via throttle. The craft though will seem to dip and then later do a little climb in small cycles for some odd reason. I like to think its catching turbulent eddies from the vortexes entering the fan thrusters like when a chopper is hovering over the ground. When you are about ready for touch down, make sure your gear is down and then throttle off to 1%, which is what I call going to throttle to full off, and then a small smidgeon back. This will help your descent massively. (Youll see what I mean).

At any rate, the bottom line is that she will handle gently at hover and I think you will be impressed. Just remember that you have to use moderate elevator, aileron, and rudder controls to maintain a level flight.

[STRAIGHT AND NORMAL FLIGHT]

The Wasp is designed to fly at a very moderate speed of 350 knots comfortably. It can actually overspeed, which can get bumpy. As you know, the air at low altitude is thick which can be bad for flying fast. At higher altitudes, it is thinner and thus you can fly faster and more efficiently at higher altitudes.

Note: Per above preflight instructions, set Elevator trim to one notch up, or down trim as once you begin to make the transition to straight and normal flight, the nose of the Wasp will begin to nose-up, unless you have already countered with pre-adjusting the setting beforehand.

The prime constraints of this design was to create a vertical take-off craft, that can easily fly from doorstep to doorstep, residence to work place, without the need of an airport, distances of over 100 miles, daily, efficiently, and economically. With a faster craft, you have less flying time, thus less fuel expenditures, hydrogen home generators can create the fuels necessary for such transportation, and electronic management systems can warn an owner of when emergency maintenance is required.

Note: In the case of total flight failure, an emergency ballistic chute is built into the hull, which when launched, instantaneously deploys, bringing the craft in for a low speed vertical descent. The landing gear is designed to absorb the impact, negating any possible injuries to the owner as well as saving the airframe for repairs.

It should also be noted that the Wasp can be glided to Earth if the terrain avails itself to the owner at the moment of power failure during moving flight. (Power failure at hover at higher altitudes would require the EBC to be deployed). Note that the sleek hull of the Wasp is very much like an exotic glider fuselage, sporting forward swept wings as well. The Wasp doesnt sport the best glide rate, but it can get back to Earth when in the hands of a well trained owner.

[SOUND OPTIONS]
All of my designs are built around the possibilities of being built today with existing technologies. The original Wasp was designed around a single 3 rotar Wankle rotary engine with twin turbochargers and ultra lightweight composite technologies block. I have thus included the sounds for both the reciprocating sounds as well as turbine engine sounds for the mass produced futuristic version. It is thus up to you which one to use. Simply switch out the sound config files for either sound.

It is also my thoughts on design to radically improve the sound qualities of aircraft and thus the actual noise generated by this vehicle would be as utterly quiet as possible utilizing new technologies in thruster propeller profiles, as well as turbine regenerators and or large baffle chambers within the hull/body.

[ONLINE FLYING]
I would like to introduce you to the possiblities of online flying in a professional community of flight enthusiasts if you are not already. This organised and free group that is international is called VATSIM, (Virtual Air Traffic Control). You can find the proper programs you need to download at their site: www.vatsim.net where in you can then begin flying with live Air Traffic Control as well as with other pilots that are flying from their desk tops world wide, passing them visibly. I myself was recently in a VATSIM flight where 40 other pilots were with me in traffic in Los Angeles airspace. If you would like to bump up your training and share the fun with others, join up with VATSIM and start flying online.

[A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME]
I am a former car designer, product designer, and artist with a massive enthusiasm for flying, and aircraft design. I reside in Phoenix Arizona and hope to one day get my private pilots license. It was my hopes that Microsoft would have come out with some interesting furturistic aircraft designs with the newest Flight Simulator. Perhaps that might happen with the next version of simulator. I have a website that features alot of my sim aircraft I have done in the past as well as some projects I have worked on and 'in progress' as well; www.lionheartcreations.com Navigate to the FS page.

[A FINAL WORD]

If you have any input or you are having any problems with installing this plane, please email me and I will try to help out as much as possible. My email address is william@lionheartcreations.com

I hope you enjoy flying this plane. I only wish it were a better quality model as I have just learned Gmax. This model was tested on a P4 computer and functioned well. I cannot be held responsible for anything that might occur to your computer when flying this airplane.

(To fully grasp the reality of Jesus having did what He did, in three short years, perfectly fulfilling every single thing prophesized by the Holy Scripture is almost overwhelming, especially when it totals over 2000 such prophecies, and in only 3 years. But in reflection, I think His most awesome teaching is Compassion).
